Treat your guests to some holiday fun with this Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board at your next party! So easy to put together, this dessert board is filled with fun and tasty toppings and treats that any hot chocolate fan will love!

I’m always looking for fun ideas for our winter holiday parties, and this hot chocolate charcuterie board is a new favorite! I know that the first thing that probably comes to your mind when you hear the word “charcuterie” is cold meats and cheese, but this is a dessert board specific for hot cocoa. It is kid-friendly and can be easily customizable depending on what ingredients you are able to get.
Perfect for family get-togethers or parties, everyone is going to love it including kids and adults alike. If you’re serving this to adults, you can even add mini-sized/airplane booze like Baileys! But I’m keeping mine family-friendly for the kids to enjoy.

Things You Need to Make This
- Board: Use a round or rectangular wooden board. Or if you don’t have one, go for a serving platter instead.
- Small Bowls and Serving Spoons.
- Hot Chocolate Mix: This is the star of the show, use any hot chocolate mix that you like, or use 2 flavors or more. You can change up the flavor and do a white hot cocoa mix, or a caramel one.
- Marshmallows: I’m using holiday-shaped ones that I got from Target along with white mini marshmallows, but again, use your favorite!
- Other items can include chocolate, crushed candy canes, peppermint kisses, wafer cookies, sprinkles, hot cocoa bombs, chocolate and peppermint stirrers, you name it!
How To Assemble a Hot Chocolate Charcuterie Board
- To assemble the hot chocolate board, start by placing the hot cocoa mix in a bowl and place it in the center of the board. Refill if/when needed.
- Place 2 other small bowls on the board, and fill them with small items like chocolate chunks, sprinkles, or crushed candy canes/peppermints.
- Then start adding longer items such as stirrers, wafers, and straws.
- Fill the gaps with chocolate squares, mini candy canes, and Hershey’s kisses. Add lots of marshmallows to the outer spaces, and hot cocoa bombs.
- Serve this board with mugs of warm milk or hot water.
Recipe Tips
- Make Themed Hot Chocolate Boards: Whether you’re making this for a holiday or a party, you can do special themes by changing up the items and the colors of the items used. Think Frozen, Disney, White Christmas, etc.
- Make a Few Smaller Ones: If you have a big group over, you might want to consider making 2-3 smaller boards so it’s easier for everyone to pick up what they’d like rather than having to wait.
- Make Ahead: You can make this ahead, but make sure to cover everything up with plastic wrap as you don’t want your marshmallows to get stale.
