Make these Bacon Air Fryer Mummy Hotdogs for a quick spooky snack, or a cute appetizer to serve at a Halloween party! You only need 4 simple ingredients to make these, and they’re ready in under half an hour.
You will love making these Air Fryer Mummy Hot Dogs because they’re very easy to make, super cute, and taste delicious! The hot air circulates around the mummy hot dogs to cook and heat up the hot dogs, and crisp up the dough strips that look like bandages. While you can make these in the oven, I find it easier and quicker when made in the Air Fryer.

Why This Recipe Works
- Easy: Anyone can make these mummy hotdogs! They are incredibly easy and you can get the kids to help you make them, they will have fun wrapping the hot dogs in crescent roll strips!
- Great for Parties: These mummy hot dogs are so easy to make, you can easily double or triple the batch to serve at a Halloween party!
- Pre-made Dough: We’re using a can of refrigerated Crescent dough sheets! No need to make dough from scratch here.
- Done in the Air Fryer: You don’t need to turn on the oven or heat up the whole kitchen to make these. If you’re making a single batch, you may be able to cook the whole batch at once (depending on the size of your Air Fryer).
The Ingredients
- Dough: We are using a can of Pillsbury crescent dough sheets. These are easier to cut into strips. If you can’t find the sheets, you can buy the crescents/triangles and press the seams together before cutting into strips. Remove the dough from the fridge 15 minutes before you start.
- Hot Dogs: I’m using all beef franks here, but go for your favorite type of hot dogs. Pat the hot dogs dry using paper towels before you start.
- Bacon: This ingredient is optional (but not really!), it adds a wonderful flavor and crunch to the appetizer. I mean, who doesn’t love crispy bacon?! I’m using 8 strips of already-cooked bacon here.
- Candy Eyes: You will need 16 small candy eyes to add to the hotdogs after air frying, if you don’t have them, you can use yellow mustard to draw the eyes instead.
How To Make Air Fryer Mummy Hot Dogs
- Cut the Dough. Start by unrolling the crescent dough sheet onto a piece of parchment paper, then using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter slice into 1/4″ inch strips.
- Wrap with Bacon: Wrap each hot dog with a slice of bacon. It doesn’t have to be perfect, and the bacon won’t cover the whole hot dog but that’s totally fine.
- Wrap with Dough: Then wrap each bacon hot dog with a strip or 2 of dough strips (see picture above) to look like bandages. Repeat the remaining hot dogs and dough.
- Air Fry: Preheat the Air Fryer to 330°F/165°C for 5 minutes, then spray the air fryer basket with nonstick oil and add the mummy hotdogs and lightly spray them as well. Make sure that they are not touching (cook in batches if needed). Air Fry for 5 minutes, then open the basket and shake it gently then air fry for 2-3 more minutes. Remove from the air fryer and add 2 candy eyes per hot dog tucking them under the dough.
Recipe Tips
- Make sure not to wrap the hot dogs in too many strips of dough as these might not cook evenly.
- You don’t have to use candy eyes if you don’t want to, another great option is to draw eyes using mustard and ketchup, and a toothpick. Do this before air frying.
- Make Minis! I’m using a large pack of beef franks that comes in a package of 8, if you wish you can totally go for smaller ones and make Lil smokies or mummy cocktail weenies instead.
- Serve with: Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, slices of cheese, or pickle relish!
