Key Ingredients
- Steak: I used a sirloin tip steak that I sliced into thin strips, you can also use flank, rump, or top round steak.
- Veggies: A mix of red, yellow, and orange peppers are sliced lengthwise, and a yellow or white onion is diced or sliced. The veggies are tossed in olive oil, smoked paprika, and a little salt and pepper.
- For the marinade: We’re marinating the steak in Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and a mix of chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- For serving: If you’re making classic fajitas, you will need fresh tortillas, avocado, and fresh lime.
How To Make Steak Fajitas in the Air Fryer
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the steak strips with the seasonings.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. And allow to marinate for at least 15 minutes, but preferably for longer (2 hours or even overnight).
- Toss the bell peppers and onions with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt and pepper.
- Preheat the Air Fryer to 400°F/200°C for 5 minutes, when it’s hot, remove the steak strips using a pair of tongs (discard the marinade), and add the steak to the air fryer basket along with the fajita veggies.
- Air fry for 8 minutes shaking the basket halfway through.
- After cooking, assemble the fajitas inside soft tortilla shells. Top with avocado slices, a squeeze of fresh lime juice or any other fajita toppings of your choosing.
Tips For Making Fajitas in the Air Fryer
- If you decide to use chicken in place of the steak, you will need to air fryer for 12-15 minutes for bite-sized pieces. Keep in mind that all Air Fryers are different, so watch the fajitas carefully as you don’t want to undercook or burn them.
- To make clean up easier, get these parchment liners off amazon. They make sure that the food never sticks to your Air Fryer basket and will protect the nonstick coating, they’re quite cheap and come in a pack of 100 pieces.
- Serve it up on a salad! Add some crunchy romaine lettuce or a spring mix to a bowl, and top with fajita steak and veggies.
Favorite Air Fryer
I am always asked about what Air Fryer I like, and why. My favorite Air Fryer is this Cosori XL Air Fryer, it comes with a square basket that can fit a lot of food (even a whole chicken! or 3 cornish hens), it’s powerful, the nonstick coating of the basket is perfect and it’s a good value for money. I’ve had it for over 2 years now, and recommend it to everyone.
Turn it into a Mexican Feast!

Notes

- For a deeper flavor, allow the steak to marinate longer.
- After the steak is done marinating, you can dispose of the marinate mixture.
- Tip for the tortilla shells: heat the shells for 5-10 seconds inside the microwave before fajita assembly. This will soften the shell even more and make for a more enjoyable bite.
