These Slow Cooker Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches or bites are a hit with the whole family! Tender steak bites are simmered in a mixture of peppers and onions, au jus, and beef broth, then topped with gooey, melted provolone cheese for a delicious twist on a classic. Guaranteed to please!
Ingredients
1 ½poundsstew beef
2cupsfrozen bell peppers and onion
1cuplow sodium beef broth
11-ounce packetau jus mix
6-8slicesprovolone cheese
Fresh chopped parsleyfor garnish
Instructions
In your Crockpot, combine the stew beef with fresh or frozen peppers and onions, low-sodium beef broth, and a packet of au jus. Give it a quick stir.
Cover with the lid, and cook on HIGH for 3-4 hours, or on LOW for 5-6 hours or until the meat is tender.
Remove the lid, top the meat with slices of provolone cheese, and put the lid back on for a couple of minutes just to melt the cheese.
Serve the Philly cheesesteak mixture in your favorite rolls, on slices of baguette, or over rice or cooked noodles. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired.
Notes
Serve over thick slices of Italian bread, rice, mashed potatoes, or noodles.
Keep an eye on the slow cooker as every slow cooker cooks at a different rate, if the sauce starts to thicken before the meat is done add a splash of water.
If you end up with too much sauce, discard a little.
For a little kick, add a jar of sliced jalapenos to the Crockpot.
