This homemade 3 Musketeers Candy is so easy to make using only three ingredients. It's perfect for the holidays season, for parties or as a homemade gift.
Ingredients
3cupsMilk chocolate chips
8ounces Whipped topping
24ounceChocolate almond bark
Instructions
Line a 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving enough overhang on the sides to allow for the candy filling to be removed easily after chilling. Set aside.
In a medium microwave safe bowl, melt milk chocolate chips for 30 seconds. Stir and microwave again for another 30 seconds. Repeat until completely melted.
Allow to cool to room temperature (about 10 - 20 minutes) so it doesn't ruin the fluffy texture of the cool whip. This step is important.
Mix the melted chocolate and then fold in the whole container of whipped topping. If the chocolate hardens into tiny bits, that's normal. Just continue folding until the mixture is well combined and fluffy.
Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan, spread evenly and freeze for 30 minutes. The Mixture should be firm and easy to work with. If it's still very sticky, chill for 30 minutes more.
While the bars are in the freezer, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon baking mat.
Remove the bars from the freezer and move onto a hard flat surface using the overhang on the sides. With a sharp, greased knife, cut a very thin line around the entire edge of the square so it cleans it up. Then cut the filling into bite size candy bars, about 16 pieces.
Place the candy filling on the prepared baking sheet, spreaded out so they don’t freeze back together, and freeze for 15 more minutes so it gets even firmer.
Melt the chocolate almond bark in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds at a time. Stir each time until completely melted.
Bring bars out of freezer and dip one at a time into the melted chocolate mix using a dipping tool (or two forks), then place on the baking sheet. Allow to set at room temperature for 30 minutes.
Store candy in the freezer until ready to serve. Enjoy them cold!
Notes
You can spray the lined pan to avoid candy filling sticking into it.
You can use dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate if that's your preference. White chocolate chips results in lighter and sweeter candies.
You can use flavored Whipped Topping to give a cheesecake like flavor.
Add ¼ cup of your favorite chopped nuts to the melted chocolate chips if you like.
Make sure the candy filling pieces are very cold before dipping them into the melted chocolate mix, as this makes the process much easier.
Instead of using a dipping tool, you can use two forks to help dip the bars into melted almond bark.
If needed, you can reheat almond bark if it gets hard and thick as you are dipping candies filling in it.
After dipping the candy into the melted chocolate mix, use a squeeze bottle or a fork to drizzle any leftover chocolate over the bars to make a pretty design.
Feel free to sprinkle the candy with your favorite sprinkles after dipping them in the chocolate mix to turn them into a holiday dessert.
Cool Whip Candy can be stored in freezer bags or an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
